BEHIND THE RESULT

A bronze medal in a named event

Shauryajit Ranjitkumar Khaire won bronze in the standing-pole open category of Mallakhamb at the 2022 National Games in Gujarat. A report published on 11 October 2022 describes him as ten. The government citation later records that result, and the January 2023 award announcement names him in Sports. Keeping the event and category in the story makes the achievement more useful than a vague claim that a child won a medal. The competition happened in 2022; the national child award followed in 2023.

A sport that asks for careful learning

The contemporary account describes Mallakhamb as a discipline performed using a pole or rope, and discusses Shauryajit’s introduction to the sport through his father and support from his coach. It is a demanding physical activity rather than a movement to copy from a still image. The sources reviewed here do not provide a complete training diary or every competition result. We focus on the documented National Games performance and avoid inventing practice hours, conversations or a path from one session to the medal. Historical rankings and youngest-athlete claims require their own defined comparison.

Discover a sport without imitating a stunt

You could explore a less familiar sport by finding out what the event is called, how routines are judged and what qualified coaches do to help athletes learn safely. This is a reader activity, not an exercise demonstration. Do not try to reproduce a Mallakhamb position from a photograph or video. The interesting question for a school discussion might be which sports your class knows little about and where reliable information can be found. Shauryajit’s named result gives that curiosity a concrete place to start.
